Use warm water for washing
We often don’t pay attention to the temperature of the water while showering or washing our face. However, water temperature plays a significant role in maintaining skin hydration. Use lukewarm water for bathing and facial cleansing instead of hot water. Lukewarm water helps prevent excessive drying of the skin.
Use fragrance-free cleansers
Scented cleansers such as soaps and shower gels can contain chemicals that may irritate the skin. Use gentle, fragrance-free products for cleansing. If you insist on using scented products, choose ones that are scented with natural, pure essential oils.
Use coconut oil for skincare
Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids that help hydrate the skin and retain its moisture. Apply coconut oil directly to your skin after showering or before bedtime, massaging it in circular motions.
Use pure, 100% Aloe Vera gel
Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. Applying Aloe Vera gel to your face soothes and nourishes the skin. Massage the Aloe Vera gel into your skin for 4-5 minutes in circular motions to achieve the best results.
Use an avocado mask
Avocado is packed with vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant and helps maintain proper skin hydration. Using an avocado face mask helps preserve the firmness and hydration of your skin while protecting it from drying out. Mash half an avocado with a fork, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of milk. Mix the ingredients well and apply the mask to your face and neck. Wait for 20 minutes, then rinse it off with lukewarm water. You can repeat this two to three times a week if your skin is very dry. You can also use it not only on your face but also on your hands, feet, or abdomen.
Use skincare products containing hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid helps keep your skin hydrated, vibrant, and glowing. Dry skin tends to age faster, especially because the sebaceous glands do not produce enough oil to keep dry skin wrinkle-free. Hyaluronic acid is known for its water-retaining capacity.
Avoid using anti-aging products
Anti-aging products are not recommended for dry skin as they can further dry it out.
Exfoliate your face regularly
The easiest way to get rid of dry, flaky skin is by exfoliating. Use a gentle facial scrub to remove the top layer of dead and dry skin.
Add moisturizing oils to your bath
Natural essential oils and bath oils effectively nourish dry skin. Add a few drops of coconut oil or olive oil to your bathwater and gently moisturize your skin with it.
Protect your skin from strong sunlight and stay hydrated
The harmful UV rays of the sun accelerate skin aging and lead to premature wrinkles. Apply sunscreen to your skin before going out in the intense heat. It is particularly important to drink enough water in the summer to maintain your skin’s hydration. This advice applies not only in summer but also in any other season.
